POSTCARDS FROM THE FUTURE
identity reassumption
By Marie Louise Juul Søndergaard➚, Trieuvy Luu➚, and Viraj Joshi
In a world with mass-migration and identity fluidity, people are able to continuously reassume themselves and update their passport. The passport is not a tool for identification and access to cross borders. Rather, the always-updating passport is approved by loved ones and reissued by governments when people reassume their gender, values, or senses of belonging.
Would a fluid passport create equality for all earth’s inhabitants across borders, genders, and races? Would it cultivate cultures, encourage change, and redistribute power to the people? Or would it lead to increased discrimination and state supremacy?
