POSTCARDS FROM THE FUTURE

AR Reconstruction of Destroyed Artefacts

By Grace Pappas, and Viraj Joshi

In a world where anger, guilt, shame, or any other factors have caused us to destroy or vandalise our historical artefacts; does humanity risk repeating the mistakes made in the past?

Might re-contextualising information on these artefacts be a constructive way going forward, and educating the generations to come, as opposed to destroying all evidence?

Does the value in the artefacts and their context outweigh the shame, guilt, or anger caused by them?

Would technology help reconstruct and contextualise our artefacts better to help us not repeat the mistakes of the past?
